A popular story, originally composed by Útmutató a Léleknek in Hungarian, depicts the fictitious conversation between two twins in their mother’s womb. One is an atheist (named A) and his brother is a believer (named B). The believer told his atheist brother that he felt that there is an end to their life in the womb and after the present period in the womb, they will be born into a different environment, where they can enjoy a more joyful and meaningful life.
His atheist brother rejected the idea and argued that their stay in the wonderful world of the womb would continue forever and provide them with infinite and endless pleasure. He held in his hands the umbilical cord and said that it would supply them food for ever. He denied the possibility of a birth and a life after birth. He refused to accept the existence of a mother whom he has not seen in person with his own eyes.
But the believer argued that the cord belongs to a loving mother who provides them with all their needs and that he was longing to see his mother in person after his birth. He told that they could hear the sweet voice of their mother and feel her tender love if they remain quiet and silent for some time. He explained that they live within her and owe their existence to her love and mercy. He was sure that his most merciful mother would look after their needs even after birth and continue to love them beyond measure.
Days passed and one day they were born. They opened their eyes to witness a new, bright, brilliant, beautiful, and wonderful world. They saw and felt their mother and her tender loving care. She held them close to her heart and fed them. They knew that they were safe in her affectionate arms.
Life after death is a reality. In the heaven of happiness reserved for the righteous, we will meet our loving Lord who created us to be with Him forever. What we suffer at this present time cannot be compared at all with the glory that is going to be revealed to us in the everlasting life after death. The life on earth should be a preparation for the more glorious life after death.
